Nimitz Library holds roughly 590,000 volumes. The Pentagon's search produced ~900 candidates. Only 381 entries were removed, and even that number includes duplicate editions/titles. The removal list itself shows those duplications.

Meanwhile, adjacent material remained on the shelves.

That is the giveaway.

A genuine ideological about-face at a genuinely pluralistic war college would require confronting an enormous intellectual landscape: liberalism, Marxism, anarchism, fascism, colonialism, anti-colonialism, racial theory, nationalism, political economy, imperialism, gender, religion and competing theories of war.

You don't intellectually reconstruct an academy by touching ~𝟬.𝟬𝟲% of its collection.
You make a list.
You make headlines.
You signal which vocabulary is now in and which vocabulary is out.

And then the Pentagon and the press can play 🏓 with the framing while everyone debates "banned books" instead of asking the much more embarrassing question:

📚 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗣𝗟𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗠 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗣𝗨𝗥𝗚𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘?

The real audit isn't the 381.

𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗨𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗩𝗘𝗦.

🇨🇦 And Canada should have to answer a related question before continuing to send senior officers through U.S. war colleges:

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 "𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱" 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻'𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱?

Before another Canadian general is sent south, publish the curricula, reading lists and institutional rationale.
