Police know "suicide by cop" is real. So why aren't police chiefs declaring it a suicide-prevention emergency?
Because then we'd measure what happened BEFORE the trigger was pulled: who responded, who escalated, who de-escalated, and why an armed cop became the treatment for a mental-health crisis.
