Yes, I'm an anarchist. 🏴
Saskatchewan keeps confusing institutions with the people who make them work.
Build the hospital. Own the building. Expand the bureaucracy. Announce the funding. Cut the ribbon.
Then discover you can't attract, pay or retain enough people to actually provide the care.
That's hierarchy in miniature: resources accumulate at the top in things that can be owned, administered and announced, while the knowledge, labour and relationships that make the institution useful are treated as costs to control.
I start from the opposite direction.
Fund the nurses. Fund the doctors. Fund the cleaners, technologists, paramedics and support workers. Give the people doing the work more control over how the work is organized. Build capacity in communities. Then build whatever physical infrastructure those people actually need.
A hospital doesn't produce healthcare.
People cooperating to care for one another do.
My anarchism is simply refusing to mistake the container for the commons. 🏴
