Being an anarchist under neoliberalism becomes a credential because it demonstrates something the credentialing system doesn't necessarily test: whether you can distinguish a functioning institution from a legitimate one.

You can understand the business model and still reject it. You can administer the system and recognize whom it serves. You can see that an arrangement is profitable, legal, professionally managed, and intolerable. Technical competence doesn't require political obedience.

Neoliberalism turns structural problems into individual performance reviews. Can't afford rent? Improve your employability. Exhausted? Develop resilience. Your workplace strips away your autonomy? Take ownership. Every failure of the arrangement becomes a deficiency in the person subjected to it.

The anarchist asks the question missing from the assessment: Who gets to impose these conditions, and why do they get that power?

That makes anarchism an intellectual credential, provided it is backed by practice: recognizing coercion beneath contractual language, organizing cooperation without domination, and holding your own group to the same scrutiny you apply to the boss.

🏴 The institution certifies that you can work within its rules. Your anarchism demonstrates that you can examine who wrote them, who benefits, and whether anyone should have to live by them.
